Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year and all that stuff

Posted by superchargedcamira on December 21, 2006

Just a quick xmas update.
Still working on the 2bar rom, we noticed from the logs that the BLMs were not what they should be, which meant that the ECU was having to do a fair bit of fuel trimming to get the right A/F ratios. This isnt really a problem, but it does cost a little bit of power while the ECU compensates for the wrong A/F ratios, so we’ve been working on tuning the rom so that the ECU doesnt have to do any correction, but this is a time consuming process. If anyone is interested, theres some good information on how the GM fuel injection system works at http://www.customefis.com/GMEFI.html

Anyways, hope everyone has a great xmas and new year and we’ll continue to keep you posted as things progress.

Progress at last

Posted by superchargedcamira on December 10, 2006

The 2 bar problem has finally been cracked. After playing around with the injector flow rates and the acceleration enrichment, we had a rom that was drivable. It was far from optimisied but it was a start. The inital rom was pumping in way too much fuel during idle but it has given us a starting point. From that we designed a new 2 bar rom taking into account what we had learnt and after testing today, its working very well. Flow rates look good during idle and under driving conditions, as do the map and iac values. The only thing thats not quite right is the deceleration fuel cutoff, which we believe is making the car come close to stalling when you push in and hold the clutch during driving. This should hopefully be easy to fix.

So i guess the best thing about all of this, is that now we get to start trying to fit the SC12 supercharger to the engine block. The plan is to mount it where the air con compressor used to be, but this may require some other changes to get it to fit, such as a smaller width radiator and some custom piping to the intake.

Finally some decent progress.. stay tuned for the next episode of project supercharged camira.
