Supercharged Camira..

Craig and Adam\’s attempt at adding an SC12 to a JE Camira wagon

Welding and grinding antics..

Posted by superchargedcamira on February 5, 2007

On Saturday morning we decided to make a cardboard cut out of the intercooler and have a look where we should position it. We are either looking at front mounting or the unorthodox position of where the factory airbox is! Even though it seems a strange place, its actually a perfect fit and we have butchered a hole there for fresh air to come in anyway. I guess we will decide at a later date.

After playing around with the intercooler positioning for a while, we decided to head on over to Craig’s dads house to start looking for some scrap metal to make a mounting bracket for the s/c. Craig’s old man did not disappoint producing some random scrap well up to the task. After a bit of liftin’ and a bit of shiftin’, bit a weldin’ and a bit of grindin’ we’d made our “franken-mount!” What we are trying to achieve is some sort of rail system where we can move the s/c a decent amount back and forward for positioning. At the moment we have just made the block mount and the small swivel bracket that sits on the s/c. This will connect to its own rails that will slide up and down the main bracket. We will drill holes in the L-brackets to secure the position.. anyway, you will see how it will work in the next installment as my explanation skills aren’t as good as my rambling skills!
