Supercharged Camira..

Craig and Adam\’s attempt at adding an SC12 to a JE Camira wagon

Happy Easter

Posted by superchargedcamira on March 24, 2008

Its been a while since our last post, we havent had an aweful lot of time to work on the project since jan.

Since last time, we have managed to buy some more bits and pieces for the intercooler piping and do a bit of welding to make some supports for that piping. We also bought our air filter and some bigger injectors. The air filter came from a company called UniFilter ( Due to our space restrictions, we went with a custom induction pod. The injectors we picked up from ebay, they are from a TR magna and will fit directly into the camira. The injector is very similar to the current injectors just with a higher flow rate which will allow us to get to our estimated power output.

Below is a pic of the injectors, and a couple of pics of the intercooler piping and air filter. The piping coming out of the bottom left of the intercooler is just a representation of where the piping will be going when complete, it is not the actual piping. The piping from the bottom right to the supercharger outlet is complete. The air filter is the bright red thing you will notice coming out of the front of the supercharger in the two closeup pics.

  4. hey ashmira,

Nice to hear a few more people taking an interest in what we are doing. There is plenty of info on the net about modifying the factory delco ecu. One of the main ones we spent time on was

It took us quite a while to get our ECU working with the 2 bar map sensor, part of the problem being we didnt actually understand alot of what we were doing. So we just kept at learning as much as we could from people and the internet until we began to get an idea of what was what. I would suggest having a read of the forum in the link above as a starting point.

As for doing a chip for you, at the moment we dont even know how well ours will work until we get all the SC parts finished. I wouldnt want to try and make you a chip and end up damaging your engine. We are not experts, we basically started this with very little knowledge on this sort of stuff with the objective of learning. We chose the camira because it was cheap, plenty of info on delco, and if we blew it up, well so be it.

    Hi there
Having a 88 wagon myself I was quite interested in what has unfolded on this webpage in the last 24 months.
I won’t be doing the same on my car as it is up on mileage (290000) and starting to get a bit of blowby. But I was thinking of sourcing a wrecked calibra turbo if I can find one and seeing if I can graft the motor in and maybe swap the FWD internals of the gearbox over. What appeals to me is that the car is a totally stock looking camira from the outside and NOONE would ever expect you to get the holeshot from the lights! anyway if you have a crisper NA tune rom you would like to share I would love to get hold of it. also I am curious about a) the program you use to view the tuning map B) what you use to burn the rom and C) what has to be done to the 808 to install the new rom’s . can’t wait for the next installment, hope she is all you are expecting and more!
